Program Highlights

NY EPLP offers a unique range of enriching and valuable experiences that support Fellows in performing their current position, and in preparing to assume new, more challenging responsibilities. The program explores education policy and leadership issues at the macro, strategic level through immersive experiences and virtual, interactive sessions.

Monthly Virtual Sessions

Experiential Learning

The small cohort size ensures an opportunity for rich dialogue, networking, and the sharing of ideas and perspectives.Engage in seven monthly Zoom sessions that are the core of the program. These include seminar-style discussions with university professors and prominent speakers in education policy and leadership.

Team Policy Project

Collaborate with 2 or 3 Fellows on a Team Policy Analysis Project to research and develop a policy position on a topic of interest. Teams  complete a policy analysis paper with recommendations, and share their findings with an oral presentation and discussion with the entire cohort.
Join Fellows from MI, OH, and PA for a two-day Strategic Leadership Forum in Pennsylvania:
DAY 1 Docent-led strategic leadership experience at Gettysburg Battlefield offers lessons for today's leaders.
DAY 2 US Army War College faculty shares strategic leadership concepts taught to military leaders, yet relevant for all.

Washington DC Forum for NY Fellows:
Gain a national perspective when our Fellows convene in the spring in Washington DC for two days of intimate, insightful sessions with education think-tank experts and influencers of education policy representing a broad range of perspectives.

Multiple Perspectives

The diverse, statewide cohort of up to 25 Fellows represents urban, suburban and rural leaders, including: school district and building administrators; private, parochial, and charter school leaders; education organization leaders; school board members; and graduate students.
